I was excited to receive Beyond the Stick Figure Complete Drawing Course PLUS 3 Bonus Courses from Beyond the Stick Figure Art School because art is a favorite subject area in our home. I’ve written a lot here about how both of our children love to draw, color, paint, and more! I’m always looking for different ways to expand on the things we do in art.
However, I gravitate more toward programs that encourage more student involvement and less teacher directed. This is because we as adults tend to transfer our perfectionism onto our students. This program is not like that at all! In fact, Sally takes a gentle approach that brings interest and love to art exploration. Here’s a bit about the program and how we used it in our homeschool.

Course Access
This course is a lifetime membership! Isn’t that great? Purchasing this program allows your entire household to take part in the courses and enjoy them at your leisure.
We received access to several courses through this program:
- Drawing – 3 parts
- Pen & Ink – 2 parts
- Watercolor – 3 parts
- Acrylic – 3 parts
- 3D Design – 3 parts

We focused mainly on the drawing portion of this program. My 6th grader and 3-year-old are at very different stages in drawing. Over the past few years, my 6th grader has moved from dabbling in art to exploring different media and loving it! While my 6th grader drew shapes, my preschooler played with shapes.

Drawing Course

Every once in a while, it’s great for children to go back to foundational basics especially in drawing. This drawing course begins with Sally exploring different shapes and talking about the importance of them. Students explore their homes and nature and then draw different objects that contain foundational shapes.
Each lesson is short and simple to walk through so you can watch on your schedule. On some days, we did several lessons. Other days, we only had time for one. My 6th grader began free-handing abstract drawing and then colored with markers.

Art For Everyone
I love how this course isn’t just for children. Adults can learn to enjoy art too! You don’t have to participate but you’re welcome to join in. Each of these lessons are simple enough for children to complete on their own.

We’re so excited to continue with this course over the next few weeks as we learn more about the elements of art.
