“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” – Romans 8:18 (ESV)
In our present times, it’s often difficult to overlook our struggles, our pain, our circumstances. Pain and suffering can cast dark shadows over the things we know to be truth, good, and beautiful in our lives. But we have a hope that endure all things. We have the hope of deliverance from the darkest of nights and the deepest of hurts.
Looking Beyond the Present
Are you struggling with our present circumstances today? Perhaps you feel anxious, weary, heavy-hearted. I know the feelings all too well. With the holidays fast approaching, we can caught up in the “hustle and bustle” of the season, and forget where our true focus lies. Any pain and suffering we feel can darker in chaotic times. But, when we place our focus farther beyond our present circumstances, we can grasp onto hope of a better future – a future of True Hope.
God Is Bigger Than Our Pain
Friends, God is bigger than our pain. He’s greater than our present trials and tribulations. He knows our pain. Jesus walked our paths of pain and suffering. Are you feeling pain today? Give it over to the Lord and ask Him to show you how He wants to bear it better. When we draw closer to Him in the midst of our pain, He reveal things far beyond what we ask or hope.
Christ’s Grace Is Our Strength
Are you so weary from your present season? There are times I’ve felt so weary I wasn’t sure if I had the strength to get out of bed in the morning. Christ’s grace is sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12:9). He gives us just what we need for each moment of each day. When we don’t think we can make it, we can hold onto the truth that He will carry us through.
Our Hope
In Exodus 33:14, God says, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” The God of the Israelites in our God today too. He promised to guide His people through the wilderness and all the year after. We can hold onto a hope and rest that reaches far beyond the present. There are better things still to come.
How Can We Look Beyond?
How can we look beyond the present when things seem so grim? We watch, pray, and hope. We place our focus on things above rather than the present circumstances of this world. Looking beyond and above keeps our eyes fixed and our hearts steadfast.
