My children have always loved reading Bible stories from Bible story books that make the stories come alive – where every story make God’s name come alive. I love those books that help make connections to real-life issues and get them even more excited about reading God’s Word as they grow. That’s why I was thrilled to review the NIrV Adventure Bible For Early Readers by Zondervan Publishers.
My son loved looking through “his Bible” and getting excited about the bright colors that leapt off the page, making the stories come alive. Here’s a bit more about my thoughts and our experiences about this product.
Interactive Experience
I really loved how interactive this Bible was for my five-year-old son. The pictures kept him engaged as I read to him. Some passages contained pictures of animals and other cross-references according to the topics being discussed. The bright and vivid colors we especially eye-catching and held our attention.
Since this Bible is geared towards early readers (around ages 6-10) the NIrV translation makes it a bit easier for them to read on their own as well.
The Bible also included:
- an introduction
- a dictionary
- color maps
- full-color pages
- resources for interactive games and activities online

Easy to Hold
If you have little people in your home, you know how important it is to have easy-to-hold materials that are accessible for them. While this Adventure Bible is thicker, it easily laid on my son’s lap (or my lap) so he could hold it and flip through pictures.
Historical and Cultural Facts
I’m always looking for more resources to add to our historical and cultural discussions for Bible time. The fact that this product included those throughout the Adventure Bible was definitely a highlight for me. Each book contained an introduction page that included the author of the book, along with “fun facts” like:
- Advice
- Approximate date the book was written
- Topics and themes of each book
- “Words to Treasure” section
- and more…
After using this book for several days, I decided that I love using it alongside our Homeschool Morning Time supplements or devotional times. I even included it for our nightly bedtime reading. However, I still choose our large family Bible as my go-to for reading Scripture. While this product is geared toward ages 6-10, I think other ages will find it intriguing, depending on your family style.
